So have been reading up about the mine field that is oil, so Vauxhall like us to use Dexos 2,
but is there any advantage over C3?

Prices of some of the well known makes seems ridiculous, does anyone use Comma oil and is it any good, it seems to meets the desired spec?

Read on a forum about an oil filter breaking up and depositing bits of itself into the engine, has anyone heard of this before?

Thinking of changing the transfer box oil but not sure what it needs?

Please help, have been servicing my cars for over 30 years but must admit im getting confused..

Cheers in advance.

Beware cheap oil on ebay unless from a reputable supplier like opie oils.
These people supply the same spec. oil at a good price.

I thought it was only genuine Dexos II if it had the hologram on it. Don't see the hologram on that container.

Just looked at my 5l can in the garage that I purchased from a VX main dealer and it does have a little hologram same as the one on the top right of the one in the site.
Should have gone to specsavers

Smidsy, you referred to Comma oil earlier. When I used to do my own oil changes (a few years ago now) on an Omega I used nothing else. A local mechanic to whom the trade took their vehicles for both diagnosis and servicing showed me the side labels on Castrol GTX and Comma. The Comma was by far superior in terms of specification. I did a project at Comma's factory once and the MD had a Rolls Royce - he used only Comma products on it. The company then was owned by Exxon Corporation, who just happened to own Esso as well, so their backup was pretty good. As for now, I use their cleaning products with very good results but the oil I leave to the VX dealer to source.
