Been trying to locate a 'workshop' or 'maintenance' manual so I can try & look after the vehicle. Was a time when you just rolled down to your local newsagent, bookstore, Repco shop or dealer & got a hard copy....seems all is changed now!Had a good look online but cannot find a thing....even with the Haynes web site.
Anyone have any good info for me on this please...........??

There's never been a Haynes-type manual available for the Antara to the best of my knowledge. It never sold in great numbers, hindered - at least in part - by negative motoring press reviews. Same goes for the Captivas.

There were some pirated Russian copies of he Series 1 Antara official GM Workshop Manual going around but no sooner do these crop than the web sites are infected with trojans etc and/or closed down. There are a number of manuals advertised for like 14.99 but which are really little more than copies of the owners handbook with some generic sketches added eg changing steering joints so they're of little use. There is a site which offers paid access to what it claims are official GM manuals, data sheets etc but I've neer used them so can't say much about them. I believe you can buy copies from GM themselves but at a cost of several hundred pounds which is more than the average motorist is prepared to pay.

These days there's so much information available on owners forums and youtube etc that covers most things that go wrong so there's not the same need for manuals.

Trouble with modern cars there is not a lot of repair work you can do .its all sensors for sensors for that .
You plug a laptop in it tells you what is wrong .you can do all filter change ,brakes ,would not touch the engine

Why don't you get yourself a fault code reader Doug? Even a cheapo you can plug in and get some idea what the trouble is. I bought a moderately expensive one (£100-ish) ML 619 Maxi-Link reader which also does ABS and Air Bag systems. I'd have like one that did the oil warning light and the service light but the price just keeps rising and rising. Lots of garages charge you £50 to £70 just to put your car on their diagnostic machine so buying one yourself can quickly pay off.
