Well car is at Vauxhall , had software update , but swirl flaps might still need replacing, £800! But they also picked up a rattle and slight vibration and apparently the flywheel is going! At a Princely £2,600!
OUCH ! Don't know what the swirl flaps are - but surely the flywheel is covered under warranty ! I would be interested to see how wear & tare have caused flywheel damage - if its the bearings causing vibrations then there must be a manufacturer advice/guarantee for life expectancy of bearings ?
OUCHHHH ! sorry to hear that Peej - if the car is not under Vauxhall warranty then perhaps you could get repairs done cheaper somewhere else - or at least get a second opinion - you can tell I don't trust the dealers !
>>>>> The flaps are in the inlet manifold to improve efficiency, the don't mend them they just replace the whole manifold.
Have you checked Ebay to see if any repair kits are available? I was working on an Audi diesel last week which had the Orange engine light on, when I scanned it I got P2008 and P2011 - a problem with the swirl flaps. According to a couple of msg boards I looked at, Audi want over £2,000 to fix and they will only fit new manifolds & flaps. Ebay sells a repair kit for £70 although i don't know whether it would work OK or not but it's worth looking into.
As for the DMF I certainly wouldn't go to the main dealer for that.
We went to dealer to see if we could get it properly diagnosed. According to them the flywheels are not available in the aftermarket. A quick look appears that they are! The manifold fault has cleared for now, so who knows, but even Vauxhall want to just put a new manifold on!
Feeling a bit sorry for myself at the mo, a match is all I could muster at the mo!
Good news Peej, nice to hear you're getting something positive. I know you're going through it man and it's not easy but the board wishes you all the best. A little quote to help ya:
