Your car is still under Vauxhall warranty so you'd be better buying your filter from the Vauxhall dealer to save any problems. The Vauxhall oil filter is a much more substantial item than the aftermarket paper filter elements. Engine oil has to be certified as meeting Dexos 2 requirements I bellieve 5w 30 is the recommended grade, beware some of these cheapo specials which say "Compares with Dexos 2"

Incidentally if your live near a Tesco store check it out, they were selling off their stocks of Castrol Magnatec which is Dexos 2 certified quite cheap but might be all gone by now.

Ive always done my own oil (even mid term) when under warranty.
As mentioned I use VX filter and get the VX Dexos 2 oil from below. Works out about £17 for 5 lts but I have to buy 20 lts

If you don't use VX oil make sure its fully synthetic 5/30 C3 spec. or it may cause issues with your DPF.

Dexos 2 is supposed to only be available from GM approved sources but they create confusion with their approved lists. GM had Mobil 1 ESP 0W 40 listed as Dexos 2 approved but Mobil didn't even have such an oil in their product list. Being on the list anyway proves nothing, GM hasn't tested the oil, all they're interested in is that by includiing itt on their approved list they get a % from any sales.

I take my own oil into the service and get them to remove the £60 odd quid they charge.
Ask how much the oil is first, then ask for that to be deleted from the bill
