I bought this off eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OPEL-OP-CO...72.m2749.l2649

Arrived today and as its the usual Chinese stuff no decent operating instructions, no issue I can install software and work through that, but wondered on connecting it... I assume ignition off etc then once connected ignition on but engine not running?
Any advice gratefully received

According to what I've been told and what I've read you should always plug in and un-plug with the ignition Off.
I looked at getting this Opcom a while back and I understood the best version to be 1.45 installed on Windows XP. There were versions which were supposed to be Windows 10 compliant but they weren't.
I was hoping someone wouod be the guinea pig and save me the trouble. One thing I'd be interested in would be turnign on the fuel consumption display and activating the overdrive when and if I buy a switch. Other than that just nosiness - oh and re-setting the service light if I decide to do my own servicing once the warranty is out.

Grumps knows a thing or two about this, believe he had an Opcom system up and running. Oc course he'll be too busy these days hob-nobbing it with the huntin' shootin' and fishin' brigade to talk to us Antara owners.

Well I emailed the seller stating that it did not contain decent enough instructions and he/she sent me a download link to updated software (which is not the current one!) I always scan attachmentsand zip files and guess what I found.....

Wooooooooooooo scary stuff innit. Given that the Opcom they flog is a cloned (pirated) version of the real thing I always understood that you don't try to update it from the originating site or else you will get all sorts of nasties planted in your hard drive as above.

Ever visit one of those Russian sites who have pirated copies of various workshop manuals and then find you mysteriously have virus warnings etc? That's no accident that happens, I'm convinved the OEM's have web crawlers that find these sites and shut them down by implanting nasties in them. I used to be paranoid but now I just know the bstrds are out to get me!

Did you ever get your issues resolved and get this Opcom up and running?

No, I got it to work to a point but it would not communicate with the ECU, I complained to the retailer and pointed out it was "hookie" software and he refucnded me and told me to keep the opcom, for what use it is!!
